Duties

Help
  • You will assist warehouse personnel in identifying, inspecting, obtaining dimensions and weight, and preparing material for shipment, disposal, or vendor field service efforts.
  • You will operate warehouse tugs, pickup trucks and miscellaneous other government vehicles required to support NAVSUP-WSS warehousing operations.
  • You will operate NORDCO Shuttle wagons to move and spot railcars for loading and unloading; receiving train movement and shift orders and relaying orders with other rail crew members to ensure the safe movement.
  • You will use a variety of hand and power tools to repair or construct shipping crates, assemble and disassemble shipping hardware and component attachments.
  • You will perform daily checklist (ODCL) prior to first use each day in accordance with established Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) directives.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift certification.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

The ability to perform the most difficult and complex crane operator tasks including: independently, operating bridge cranes to lift and move loads where maneuverability is a factor; planning and executing routine lifts and maneuvers in accordance with commercially accepted safe rigging practices and in compliance with OSHA requirements; working with a lifting team using standard hand signals for crane operations; and assisting with operator inspections of cranes and related equipment. I also have experience operating motorized equipment (e.g., trucks, forklifts, specialized material handling equipment, tracked vehicles, tractors, trailers, wreckers) to lift, transport, and position material, handling objects weighing up to 70 lbs, and performing railroad operations as a locomotive engineer, braker/switcher or conductor.

The ability to perform the full range of crane operator tasks including: operating bridge cranes to lift and move loads where maneuverability is a factor; executing routine lifts and maneuvers in accordance with commercially accepted safe rigging practices and in compliance with OSHA requirements; working with a lifting team using standard hand signals for crane operations; and assisting with operator inspections of cranes and related equipment. I also have experience operating motorized equipment (e.g., trucks, forklifts, specialized material handling equipment, tracked vehicles, tractors, trailers, wreckers) to lift, transport, and position material, handling objects weighing up to 70 lbs, and knowledge of railroad operations. The ability to perform common crane operator tasks including: operating bridge cranes to lift and move loads in large, open areas; executing routine lifts and maneuvers in accordance with commercially accepted safe rigging practices and in compliance with OSHA requirements; and working with a lifting team using standard hand signals for crane operations. I also have experience operating some motorized equipment (e.g., trucks, forklifts, specialized material handling equipment, tracked vehicles, tractors, trailers, wreckers) to lift, transport, and position material, and handling objects weighing up to 70 lbs.
