Duties

Help

  1. Ensures primary prevention activities are implemented addressing two or more behaviors as designed, monitored for fidelity, and evaluated in accordance with DoD and DAF guidance. Executes activities and provides training to installation personnel and community agencies concerning integrated primary prevention and resilience programs.
  2. Supports the Installation Community Action Board and Community Action Team (CAB/CAT) in executing established initiatives.
  3. Ensures program compliance with regulations, laws, policies, and directives associated with mandated administrative support programs.
  4. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the program(s).
  5. Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

DEGREE: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

FOUR YEARS OF APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating evidence-based primary prevention and resilience activities addressing two or more harmful behaviors in accordance with DoD/DAF guidance; supporting the Installation Community Action Board (CAB) and Community Action Team (CAT) in implementing community initiatives; designing and delivering prevention training programs using established instructional methods; ensuring program compliance with mandated laws and regulations; and utilizing office automation software to generate reports and manage administrative operations. Must also demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence and other harmful behaviors.
  • Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to integrated primary prevention and resilience and the multiple uses of such systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-11.
