THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is located at the WAATS in Red Rock, Arizona. The purpose of the position is to develop training and safety plans and procedures for the command. Provides staff planning and assistance to insure that required training, safety and readiness objectives are achieved and mobilization planning requirements are accomplished. Training activities at this level are concerned with the training of military personnel in a wide variety of occupations including clerical, trades and labor, administrative, technical, and/or professional skills.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the WAATS.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment.
  • You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission.
  • Completion of ATO Course, OPSEC Level 2 Course, and Physical Security Course. (Must provide certificates or proof of completion.)
  • Must have Physical Security Officer experience.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E6/SSG - E7/SFC

Compatible Military Assignments: Possess 31B MOS

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of Army or Air Force education and training programs regarding their principles and procedures. Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experience in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events.

Education

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Knowledge of a wide range of military training and operations management concepts, regulations, policies, and procedures for the purpose of providing command and staff comprehensive guidance in local/national emergencies and security missions.

2. Knowledge of training and operations functions to direct and conduct unit force protection/operational security inspections and assistance visits while evaluating the results.

3. Knowledge of training requirements, physical security, and safety programs sufficient to manage assistance visits, inspections, and external evaluations and ensure policy implementation. Analyze results, makes appropriate recommendations to correct deficiencies and implements control measures.

4. Experience as an advisor for anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) measures, ensuring all AT/FP requirements are accomplished and procedures outlined in respective security regulations are complied with.

5. Ability to communicate through both oral and written communications sufficient to communicate ideas and guidance utilizing presentations, briefings, and correspondence.
