• Perform chiropractic adjustment to restore joint and related soft tissue function.
• Diagnose chiropractic conditions by questioning, observing and examining patients as well as reviewing patient’s drug therapies, health and medical histories.
• Order diagnostic clinical laboratory studies to include but not limited to electrolyte profile, CBC, ESR, urinalysis, urine culture/sensitivity and stool for occult blood.
• Counsel patients on nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, and other matters related to chiropractic care.
• Write prescriptions for orthotic devices, materials and appliances that are made available.

• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
• Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for Chiropractor:

Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license as a Chiropractor in a state, the District of Columbia, territory or jurisdiction the United States.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing axial (spinal) and non-axial (extremity) manipulation for conditions such as facet syndromes, radiculopathy, disc disorders, or connective tissue diseases, reviewing medical histories or drug therapies used in conjunction with chiropractic treatment and diagnosing, managing or treating disorders of the spine/extremities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
