Duties

Help

As a ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC -Title 32, WG-6641-10, you will provide munitions support to the state and designated agencies in support of their taskings.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Incumbent may rotate through the following functions:

  • Materiel Section is comprised of Operations, Inspections, and Stockpile Management Elements.
  • Production Section is comprised of Conventional Maintenance, Line-Delivery, Munitions Materiel Handling Equipment and may involve Missile Maintenance.
  • Systems Section is comprised of Munitions Control, Combat Plans, Mobility & Training and Plans & Scheduling Elements.

2. Complies with safety and security requirements. Complies with all Federal, State, DOD, USAF,
and local regulations concerning hazardous materials/waste munitions assets. Maintains hazardous
waste and material according to applicable directives. Coordinates movement of hazardous
materiel munitions or related assets through the Traffic Management Office.

3. Performs Other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

Military Grades: E-3 through E-6

Conditions of Employment:
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.
- Must have a valid driver's license (to obtain a government certificate for munitions transport)

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has provided the candidate with the knowledge and application of protecting, handling, storing, transporting, and inspecting munitions items and related support equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the WG-6641-10 level, applicants must have at least 18 months experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials. Experience managing allocations, stock levels, inventories, requisitions, and dispositions. Coordinate with flight elements, weapons expediter, flight-line expediter, maintenance activities, and base support agencies to ensure effective flow of information, scheduling, and use of available resources.
