Duties

Help
  • Supervisor assigns work schedules and provides job standards, performance appraisals and leave approval.
  • Serves as working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.
  • Collects, receives, identifies sorts, moves material to the baler machine, and operates the baler insuring the material is correct for the process, and identify the recycle material during the sorting process with general instructions.
  • Operates gas or diesel-powered forklift trucks capable of lifting up to 6,000 pounds and positioning loads as high as 168 inches, and will operate the forklift to load truck trailers using inclined ramps.
  • Required to complete trip tickets, perform operator maintenance, complete service records, and is responsible for any incident reports as related to accidents.
  • May be required to drive other vehicles of other sizes or types when required by workload or when primary trucks are in for service. When authorized, may be required to drive on off post public roads and highways.

  • Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally- controlled facilities.
  • General operation of the forklift trucks will include moving, loading, unloading, transferring, transporting, stacking, and un-stacking recycle material, other goods, boxes, crates, and equipment used by or in support of the recycle operations.
  • May be required to lift moderate to heavy items regularly weighing up to 75 pounds, while performing the assigned duties. The work will require walking, standing, stooping, and bending.
  • May be required to obtain a commercial driver's license.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and carry personal liability insurance at the level required by the Installation and State.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Experience performing duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. This includes using and maintaining tools and equipment, being able to read, understand, and apply instructions and other requirements related to this job; and driving and operating forklifts and performing the physical requirements of the job. Possess the ability to lead employees in materials sorting and classifying.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
