Duties

Help

  • The incumbent is responsible for the day to day operations of the Single Sailor Center.
  • Greets and welcomes patrons in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Provides a casual and warm atmosphere.
  • Enforces Center operating policies and procedures and ensures that all customers adhere to such policies and procedures.
  • Places orders for supplies, material requests, marketing requests, and work requests.
  • Promotes harmony with and between patrons of the facility, following prescribed customer relations techniques.
  • Discusses patron problems and complaints and attempts to resolve them satisfactory.
  • Maintains the Message Board and ensures that it is updated regularly. Keeps abreast of all MWR events and other recreational programs.
  • Acts as a receptionist for the staff receiving visitors and telephone calls, personally answering questions regarding tour and event material, and referring other questions to cognizant activity personnel.
  • Coordinates patron requests for reservations of tours and special events.
  • Answers patrons' questions by phone and inquiries on site.
  • Receives and distributes correspondence, reports and other incoming mail, routing it to the correct organizational segment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The work requires handling light materials and equipment used for various classes' activities and events.
  • Incumbent must be able to work varied work schedules to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasionally carry, push, or pick up objects weighing up to 45 lbs.

Qualifications

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate possesses the following:

  • Must have 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience OR 2 years of education above high school
  • Incumbent must have a working knowledge of the Single Sailor/Liberty Program Operation or experience providing recreational activities for young adults.
  • Must be able to handle money accurately.
  • Ability to operate a cash register and personal computer. Incumbent must have basic accounting knowledge.
  • Must possess good customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate with customers by phone and in person.

Education

This position does not have an education qualification requirement.

Additional information

  • Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks.
  • Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer is required.
  • Non-US Citizen or Non-US Bona Fide Resident Alien (Non-Green Card Holder) applicants who are SOFA sponsored must provide a completed police record check with at least seven (7) years of history from the embassy/consulate of their country of citizenship upon receipt of a formal job offer.
