Help

Major Duties:
  • Perform material translation activities to support research projects and study objectives.
  • Prepare written materials, including reports, manuscripts, research summaries, and other scientific documentation.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze research data in support of ongoing studies and program initiatives.
  • Access, review, and manage patient medical records and other protected health information in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Conduct data analysis using VA computer systems and approved software applications to support research outcomes.
  • Collaborate with research staff, investigators, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure accurate data collection and project completion.
  • Maintain research records and documentation in compliance with VA policies, research protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support research activities involving human subjects while ensuring adherence to applicable ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize computer-based systems and databases to enter, track, retrieve, and analyze research information.
  • Perform administrative and operational tasks necessary to support research activities within a laboratory setting.

Qualifications


You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Experience: You must possess general experience in (1) filing subject charts, obtaining informed consent from subjects, scheduling visits for study participants, screening subjects for eligibility criteria, and performing neuropsychological testing of study participants, or (2) Experience that provides a familiarity with collecting clinical information and processes of entering clinical information from interviews with study participants, obtaining informed consent from subjects, and administering neuropsychological tests to study participants.
AND
  • Education: You must possess a bachelor or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences. (Copies of transcripts are required at the time of application).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or research laboratory environment.
  • Duties require extensive computer use and prolonged periods of sitting.
  • May require occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching overhead, and lifting objects weighing less than 10 pounds.
  • Frequent climbing of ladders is not required.
  • Position does not involve handling chemicals as a primary job function.
