Duties

Help

For FV-H duties:

Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge applicable to the Computer Scientist discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include: computer programming; database maintenance, baseline upgrades, software enhancements, networking, router configurations, collecting, recording and analyzing data/information; identifying problems, performing investigation and inspection activities; limited system development; collecting, recording and analyzing data/information; and identifying problems.

Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments and small projects.

Performs a mixture of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team. May perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs/teams.

For FV-I duties:

To include the H-band duties as well as:

  • Maintaining operational systems program products, and associated databases
  • Development of software systems using a knowledge of techniques, procedures, and processes such as operating system theory, data structures, computer system architecture, software engineering, and computer communications.
  • Development of computer graphics systems using a knowledge of graphic displays, general-purpose graphics languages, and optimization techniques involving preprocessors graphical algorithms, memory management methods, and high-speed communication links.
  • Development of high-speed computing systems and real time data acquisitions systems.
  • Development of integrated computer systems.
  • Identifies, documents, and transforms user requirements into software deliverables.
  • Plans, designs, and develops computer solutions for new and existing applications/systems.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

To qualify for this position at the FV-H level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS 5-9. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience is: Experience with providing computer programming, software enhancements, networking, collecting, recording data/information and problem resolution.

OR

To qualify for this position at the FV-I level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS 10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience is: Experience with providing enterprise-wide complex software development, testing, integration, maintenance, enhancements, recording and analyzing data/information and problem resolution.
