Prepares and conducts briefings, meetings, training classes, and associated functions
Prepares and distributes safety promotional and informative materials to maintain safety awareness.
Leads or participates in interdisciplinary working groups to support local initiatives, resolves safety related issues, or develops strategies for improving safety performance.
Serves as project officer for local safety initiatives.
Reviews purchase and service contracts.
Recommends procedures to control or eliminate hazardous operations or conditions.
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid US State Driver's license.
Incumbent must possess or complete CP-12 Level I Professional Certification program within 24 months of appointment.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting investigations of accidents and/or perform risk assessments to develop methods for prevention 2) Issuing safety and occupational health surveys to identify risk potential; 3) conducting safety and occupational health inspections to ensure they are in compliance with OSHA or DoD guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
