Help

The duties of the Supervisory Investigative Analyst, GS-1805-14:

  • Leads and supervises a team of investigative analysts, including assigning work, reviewing analytical products, evaluating performance, approving leave, and providing technical and administrative guidance in support of investigative operations.
  • Conducts and oversees complex analytical efforts involving large, sensitive data sets such as financial records, public records, commercial databases, and federal law enforcement systems to identify trends, patterns, and indicators of fraud, corruption, or other violations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on investigative information systems, developing search strategies and advising investigators on the use of advanced analytic tools and data sources including TECS, FinCEN, NCIC, and other government or commercial platforms.
  • Manages access to, and utilization of, investigative tools and data systems by maintaining licenses, monitoring usage for compliance, ensuring quality assurance of ISAT analytical outputs, and making recommendations on system improvements or contract modifications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with federal law enforcement partners, task forces, and information providers, representing ISAT in interagency working groups and supporting information sharing and coordinated investigative efforts.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and ensures ISAT analytical products, documentation, and procedures comply with CIGIE and INV investigative standards, OIG style guides, and established quality assurance processes.
  • Provides technical training, guidance, and mentoring to analysts and investigative personnel; identify training needs; and assist with developing and updating policies, procedures, exemplars, and standard operating materials.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements, including education, and any selective placement factors described below by the closing date of this announcement.

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-14 level, you must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.

Time-in-grade documentation: When applying for a higher grade, if your SF-50's effective date is within the past year (52 weeks), it might not adequately verify you have met the 1-year time-in-grade requirement. Therefore, you should provide an SF-50 that clearly verifies you meet this requirement-such as a step increase SF-50. (Appropriate examples of SF-50s includes Promotions, Within-grade Grade/Range Increases, or any SF-50 with an effective date older than one year.)Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.

You must also submit the most recent SF-50 dated within 52 weeks of the closing date for this announcement.

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Leading and supervising a team of investigative analysts performing complex analytical support functions, including planning, assigning, evaluating work, and providing technical and administrative oversight in support of investigative operations.
  • Applying advanced data analytics tools, techniques, and methodologies to independently conduct and guide large-scale, sensitive, and complex analyses involving financial records, criminal intelligence, open-source information, and federal databases to identify trends, patterns, relationships, and indicators of fraud or misconduct.
  • Managing access to, and oversight of, investigative data systems and commercially licensed analytic platforms, ensuring proper utilization, compliance monitoring, and recommending system or contract enhancements to support investigative mission needs.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on investigative information sources-including federal law enforcement databases, commercial data providers, financial intelligence systems, and open-source platforms-and advising investigative personnel on search strategies, data exploitation, and analytical best practices.
  • Developing and maintaining interagency relationships with federal, state, local, and international law enforcement partners to support information sharing, collaborative initiatives, and joint analytical projects.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and ensuring quality control of analytical products, data reporting, and investigative documentation for compliance with CIGIE standards, organizational policies, and professional best practices.
  • Designing and delivering technical and analytical training for investigative personnel, identifying skill gaps, recommending external training opportunities, and contributing to the development of standardized procedures, exemplars, and resource guides.
