Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a Naval Intelligence Activity (NIA) Inspector General (IG) Investigator/Evaluator, performing a wide variety of evaluator and investigator duties in support of the NIA Office of Inspector General.
  • You will assist with and participate in investigations or inquiries into allegations of misconduct, fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement by personnel assigned to NIA and subordinate Echelon III/IV commands.
  • You will advise as to law, rules and regulations to protect legal rights of witnesses, and procedural matters that will assure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations and the validity of the IG process.
  • You will conduct command level oversight, analyses, reviews, inquiries and investigations of intelligence operations, resources and security, and make recommendations for program improvement and corrective action.
  • You will collect, interpret, evaluate and integrate data from multiple sources in assessing the relevance and significance of developments in assigned area, and in preparing new or revising previous management analyses, assessments or other products.

  • Must obtain Navy Inspector General (NAVIG) Team Member certification within 90 days of onboarding and complete all assigned specialty certifications within 12 months.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Conducting investigations and/or inquiries independently and participating as an investigation/inquiry/assistance team member.
  • Analyzing and interpreting voluminous reports and supporting documentation involving critical and sensitive issues/cases.
  • Conducting analyses, reviews, inquiries and investigations of intelligence operations, resources (e.g., finance, procurement, supply, Executive Order 12333, manpower) and security.
  • Collecting, reviewing, evaluating and integrating data from multiple sources in assessing the relevance and significance of developments in assigned areas.

You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; substitution of education for experience is not permitted at this grade level.
