You will serve as a Nuclear Mechanical Systems Inspector (Ships) Training Leader in the Nuclear Inspection Division of the Quality Assurance Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Summary
You will serve as a Nuclear Mechanical Systems Inspector (Ships) Training Leader in the Nuclear Inspection Division of the Quality Assurance Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Preference eligibles and DoD Retained Grade Preference eligibles and VEOA eligibles.
You will conduct initial training required for the nuclear inspection qualification program and certifies continuing inspector, work leader and supervisory qualifications for a wide variety of basic and specialized nuclear inspector skills.
You will make decisions concerning the application of complex technical standards to actual work situations and is constantly faced with new situations which require deviation from past experience.
You will demonstrate the proper inspection techniques and practices, explain safety precautions to be followed when performing inspections, and provide instruction in the use of materials, measuring devices, precision instruments and safety devices.
You will maintain a variety of official records and program materials including qualification records, question banks, course evaluations, training memorandums and correspondence, training metrics, qualification reports, and policy handbooks.
You will evaluate the progress of workers in terms of such factors as interest, cooperation, assimilation of basic fundamentals and theory.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
This position requires the ability to perform inspections in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time in standing, stooping, or crouching positions which would cause muscular fatigue or physical strains.
Work may require lifting, and or carrying, generally not in excess of 50 pounds.
