Duties

Help

Responsible for the economic and efficient operation of the Aquatic Center, Anderson Field House Indoor Pool and the Summer Swim Program to include the Outdoor Pool. Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of aquatic and promotional programs. May at times be part of the ratio as a Lifeguard or act as head lifeguard, Plans and administers a wide range of fairly typical, conventional and well-established basic aquatic activities. Plans and coordinates detailed re-occurring and non-reoccurring aquatic and joint community programs. Plans and establishes aquatic, certification curriculum to include lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, water fitness instructor and other safety, recreational certification and educational programming. Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates, and evaluates their work performance; approving or disapproving sick leave, annual leave or other absences from work. Coordinates with the MWR marketing department to publicize aquatic events. Evaluates the effectiveness of the aquatic programs. Evaluates program objectives from the standpoint of participant response and resources. Adapts to various aquatic programs in light of findings. Manages the APF and NAF budget for the assigned facilities and programs. Reviews budget execution reports to ensure desired execution rate is met. Prepares annual quarterly and monthly budget including UFM updates and request for special funding. Develops and update or the Standard Operating Procedures for the aquatic facilities, programs and enforces policies. Manages data collection for the AF standard reports. Makes sure all personnel adhere to the established policies. Manages equipment, supplies and services needed to accomplish assigned functions. Coordinates with solicitation of volunteer and contract services for the aquatic program. Interviews, and selects such staff and provides them with required orientation, training and management in order to meet all activity needs. Provides transition training to outstanding volunteers to permit them to serve in new and different areas. Performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties to include but not limited to daily financial paperwork and deposits. Complete timecards, purchasing and ordering or supplies, answering telephone and emails, maintains historical data. Prepares various daily, weekly and monthly reports. Complete daily and monthly inventories and maintain key control and internal control.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:A 4 year business degree from an accredited college is highly desirable. Subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks and must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level and has served in a leadership role in an aquatic venue. Must have the following certificates at the time or appointment; Lifeguard Instructor Certification (including CPR, AED and First Aid). Must have Water Safety Instructor certification. Must have experience with operating and maintaining the Daktronics competition system.


Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
