WHO MAY APPLY: All qualified permanent and indefinite Title 32 National Guard employees who are currently working for the Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS) in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Duties

Help
  • Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
  • Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Re-directs individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.
  • Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources.
  • Participates with the supervisor in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
  • Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
  • Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Sets performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
  • Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed.
  • Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, and mobilization and command support exercises.

  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment.
  • May be required to successfully complete a supervisory probationary period.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position can be filled up to five years if mission supports it.
  • Management retains the right to terminate this temporary promotion action OR convert this position to permanent status without further competition.
  • Selected individual will return to their former position IF the temporary promotion is terminated.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade - CW5 (W-5) with date of rank on or after 5 November 2024

Minimum Military Grade - MSG (E-8) with date of rank on or before 1 February 2024

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

WS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for the allied trades function. The specialized experience must demonstrate your ability to review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; knowledge of various lines of work performed by the allied trades function; deal effectively with other people; supervise through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, knowledge of general supervisory concepts, knowledge of shop processes; and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
