Duties

Help
  • You will directly supervise 3-4 first level STAAT detachment supervisors (who are Supervisory Security Specialists, GS-0080).
  • You will directly supervise 2-3 desk officers (who are Security Specialists, GS-0080).
  • You will supervise an Administrative Officer (GS-0341) who heads a small administrative staff. Each STAAT detachment consists of 2 or 3 to 5 nonsupervisory Security Specialists (GS-0080) and 2-5 US Navy military personnel.
  • You will develop, recommend, and approve performance standards.
  • You will review work in progress and upon completion, as appropriate, for adherence to standards including security requirements, timeliness, quantity and quality.
  • You will recommend, or approves, selections, promotions, reassignments, etc.
  • You will distribute and balance workloads across detachments/employees based upon priorities, difficulty, requirements, staff capabilities and other considerations.
  • You will do the same with military personnel in coordination with their military chain of command.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed timeframes. Certification required is: SAPPCS, PSC, AND SFPC.

Qualifications

Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Expert-level knowledge of, and skill in applying, state-of-the-art methods and techniques to protect against threats in the realms of Force Protection, Antiterrorism and Physical Security; this includes skill in guiding desk officers and subordinate supervisors concerning security issues.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position.
