As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will serve as Special Assistant and Senior Analyst to the Director of CCIIO to coordinate and provide technical assistance and direction relative to the operation and administration of the CCIIO functional areas and strategic priorities.

Help
  • Plans and performs special program reviews, studies, evaluations, and analytical studies on practices related to CCIIO programs, Agency programs, or HHS directives.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing policies and reviews new policy and legislative initiatives for potential impact on CCIIO.
  • Provides and communicates status updates to the Director of CCIIO and leadership on project goals, objectives, and deadlines to ensure understanding of tasks and achieved results.
  • Directly represent the CCIIO senior executive team as a liaison and facilitator for senior and executive-level internal and external audiences.
  • Serve as a liaison with other CMS Program Offices, HHS Operating Divisions, and external stakeholder groups by representing the Director of CCIIO on committees and workgroups or arranging for or fulfilling requests for information and comments.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:

1. Researching and/or analyzing administrative initiatives to recommend improvements to achieve organizational goals; and
2. Managing priorities to ensure timely completion of projects and efficiency of operations; and
3. Preparing briefings, memos, or reports for executive meetings with stakeholders at various levels within and outside of the organization.

Substitution of Education for Experience: There is no substitution of education to meet the specialized experience requirement at the GS-12 grade level.

Combination of Experience and Education: There is no combination of experience and education to meet the specialized experience requirement at the GS-12 grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
