Help
  • Incumbent operates a field-type tractor with attached and towed equipment. Plans the order in which work is to be accomplished; transports materials and equipment; and digs, loads, plants, clears, mows and dispenses liquid and solid materials.
  • May operate under different conditions, such as mud and areas where trees and shrubs present operational hazards. Performs minor maintenance on field-type tractors and attached and towed equipment.
  • Makes multiple connections between the tractor and attached or towed equipment. Adjusts the equipment for job requirements such as setting the height of mower blades, depth of plow blades, and the rate of application of sprayer attachments.
  • Performs the work according to established methods or special instructions. Makes difficult judgements concerning tractor operations; selects power settings, gears, and the order in which the work is to be accomplished.
  • Responsible for operator maintenance on tractors and equipment such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, changing and sharpening blades, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustments.

  • Work is typically performed outdoors, with exposure to prolonged sun, dust, and bad weather. There is a risk of cuts and bruises from flying objects and branches, and serious injuries from operating equipment.
  • Protective gear may be required for safety.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts that may include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Selected applicant must be able to pass a Medical Physical Examination.
  • Applicant must be physically capable of lifting supplies and materials up to 100 pounds
  • Must have knowledge of tractor and equipment operating characteristics such as tractor gears, power ratios, braking and turning capacities, and equipment power requirements, capacities and operating speeds.
  • Frequently requires continuing arm and leg movements to operate tractor controls and manipulate equipment controls.
  • Work is usually performed out-side. Operator is usually exposed to long periods of hot sun, dust, and bad weather. Cuts and bruises may result from flying objects and branches hitting the operator
  • Serious injury may result from getting caught in operating equipment or from collisions with automobiles when operating on or near public roads. May be required to wear protective equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

  • Applicant must have one-year related experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on a field-type tractor and associated equipment.
  • Applicant must maintain and retain a valid driver's license.May be required to obtain a Government motor vehicle operator's permit.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
