Duties

Help
  • Locate and assemble stock for both external and internal customers for shipment, assuring outgoing items are properly marked, tagged, or labeled.
  • Operate pallet jack as appropriate for various tasks such as loading and unloading the vehicles.
  • Verify items against documents for correct quantity, condition, stock number and nomenclatures and inputs/confirms information.
  • Sort and process all material from the Medical Treatment Facilities (MTF), outlying clinics and activities for turn-ins to appropriate agency for disposition.
  • Load and unload trucks, assuring that cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured in the vehicle for balance and stability.

  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Annual physical examinations are required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks. I can utilize the proper tools and devices to perform simple Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks. In addition, have the ability to operate a motor vehicle with gross vehicle weight in excess of 11,000 pounds and up to 33,000 pounds and operate a forklift capable of lifting loads up to 20,000 pounds or more and as high as 200 inches. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time; bending, stooping, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weigh up to 100 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others. Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls of motor vehicles. Moderate physical effort is exerted in operating, turning, backing and controlling heavier vehicles. Fork lift operating requires moderate physical effort in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the fork lift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the fork lift truck.
  • Working Conditions: Performs assignments indoors in both comfortable and uncomfortable areas, and outdoors in all weather conditions. Work areas maybe hot, dirty, dusty, drafty, inadequately lighted and ventilated, etc. Is subject to cuts, abrasions, injuries from equipment, or the possibility of serious injury resulting from accidents while driving and/or loading and unloading materials. Drives in all types of traffic and weather on public roads, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds.
