This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This Engineering Technician can be selected at either Grade, GS-0802-11 or 12 with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Little Rock District Operations Division. Position can be filled in Little Rock, Dardanelle, or Bull Shoals Arkansas.

Help
  • Serves as the senior technician for Computer Aided Design (CAD) and related systems; including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other Computer Aided Engineering Tools (CAE), such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), and ProjectWise.
  • Responsible for carrying out, directing and coordinating all work associated with CAD/CAE systems use, including its use for project planning, design, engineering management, construction, and operation.
  • Performs overall coordination and provides authoritative advice, assistance and information on all matters related to CAD and other CAE tools.
  • Continuously analyzes the CAD/CAE systems for improvements in efficiency and use.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of computer engineering work systems and tools used for the development of projects.
  • Develops preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, and emergency operation projects.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes 2 of the 3 following duties: 1) Developed construction drawings utilizing a CAD and/or BIM software; OR 2) Collect data for the preparation of sketches or design criteria; OR 3) Operate multiple software systems to include Computer Aided Design and Building Information Modeling. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

GS-12 Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience includes 2 of the 3 following duties: 1) Administration of CAD/BIM software systems for compliance with established standards; OR 2) Developed construction drawings utilizing multiple CAD and/or BIM software systems; OR 3) Experience in developing a training plan and/or facilitating training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education
