About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Duties

Help
  • Perform inspections on equipment such as materials handling equipment, stock selectors, automotive, heavy equipment, tank and locomotives
  • Conduct periodic refresher courses to operators to train on new equipment, violations, or new procedures indicating the need for more training.
  • Rate automotive equipment on testing criteria such as manipulation, sudden stops, observation of road signs, signaling, parking, backing, and turning.
  • Show films to inform personnel of proper operation and preventive maintenance requirement.
  • Schedule personnel for testing and maintain the associated records.
  • Issue permits upon completion of required training.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position will require the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary promotion may be made permanent or extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made permanent or extended at management discretion.
  • Temporary appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Mobile Equipment Driving Tester Inspector without more than normal supervision to include retrieving information using automated systems and complete reports of findings on inspections. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is required in the handling of objects weighing from 15 to 44 pounds. Required to reach, bend, turn or move hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls of vehicles and equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Incumbent is subject to accidents and injuries while testing unskilled operators, and due to traffic hazards, etc.
