As an Administrative Specialist, you will:

  • Perform quality assurance and customer satisfaction surveys related to Resident Sponsor performance, room readiness/assignments, Admissions Office staff performance, telephone communications, and timeliness of campus information disbursement to the applicants.
  • Support the Chief, Resident Services in ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation and standards and responding to Department of Defense Inspector General evaluations.
  • Be responsible for maintaining, updating and verifying all Resident records to include active, discharges and deceased Residents' records.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Resident Services/Admissions Office. Maintain individual calendars for the Chief of Resident Services and the Admissions Officer. Schedule appointments and makes arrangements for meetings.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience for the GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Serving in an administrative support role using a personal computer to administer office functions and create office documents; AND
- Researching, gathering, and compiling data to prepare reports.

OR

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:

- A master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR
- 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
- A LL.B. or J.D., if related;

OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.

You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • The work is primarily sedentarily and there are no special physical demands. The work may require walking, bending, and lifting of boxes less than 40 pounds.
  • Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
  • Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
