Summary
You will serve as an Animal Caretaker (ACT) - Field Canine Handler. Applies prescribed canine training theory and practices to establish or modify canine behaviors.
Assists with inspections of commodities and conveyances in traditional and non-traditional settings and environments using canine partner. Refers findings to PPQ officials.
Participates in patrol duties (searches) in assigned area alongside canine partner/units.
Ensures canines are kenneled, maintained, and cared for according to standards outlined in the Animal Welfare Act.
Assists the supervisor with monitoring and allocation of canine diets considering such factors as age, species, current diet, special needs, sex, breeding, and training status.
Restrains dogs during processing of blood samples, identification verification, temporary marking, temperatures procurement, while preparing for travel and general veterinary examination.
Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
May need to serve a one-year probationary period.
