The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of warehousing required in maintaining storerooms for supplies, equipment, and materials for the support of the Chinle Service Unit Maintenance Department. The position is located at the Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Chinle, Arizona.

  • Responsible for maintaining a checkout system for Quarters Occupant, equipment (tillers, mowers, etc)
  • Responsible for parts and services procurement for all heavy equipment and vehicles and specialty tool assigned to the Facilities Department.
  • Orders and receives shipment of supplies, equipment, and materials and insures thatthey are properly received, identified, and accounted for.
  • Makes necessary arrangements with shippers and suppliers for any damaged shipments, other improper conditions and any discrepancies. Items received must be properly checked in and identified with appropriate purchase order to verify quantities ordered to make proper adjustments as required.
  • Properly stores or warehouses supplies, equipment, and materials with consideration to SDS requirements.
  • Orders and maintains bench-stock inventories. Inventories stock for obsolete, deteriorated, and expired items and disposes of these items appropriately.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
There is no specific length of training or experience required, however, applicants will be rated on the basis of their responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision, and the information contained in their resume.

Physical Effort: Incumbent is often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended period of time, and to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weight up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.

Additional information

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
