Duties

Help

  • Conducts comprehensive screening interviews with Family Advocacy Program clients. Explains appropriate FAP services, requirements, policies, and procedures while obtaining pertinent biopsychosocial history and other case information to be incorporated into client files at the assigned installation
  • Assists in the development and implementation of comprehensive outreach and prevention programs for individuals, families, and groups requiring assistance with family-related issues. Contributes to action plans for Family Advocacy's Secondary Prevention and Client Engagement team based on community needs assessments and program objectives specific to the installation's demographic profile and identified risk factors.
  • Coordinates resource and referral services between military and civilian community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for military families. Assists in establishing effective resource and referral services and strategies for optimal utilization of these services based on the unique resources available in the installation's geographic area.
  • Performs program administration and data management functions to ensure effective operation of the Family Advocacy Program. Prepares a detailed agenda for case management team meetings, ensuring all necessary information and documentation is available for effective case review according to the procedures established at the assigned installation. Compiles comprehensive statistical data and prepares recurring reports to document program activities, outcomes, and compliance requirements in formats specified by local leadership and DAF FAP requirements and standards.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions..

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience: I have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS 04), pay band (NK-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is: Knowledge in using word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce avariety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters. The ability to perform program administration and data management functions to ensure effective operation of a program.

EDUCATION:
Have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that (a) included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects directly related to the work of the position; (b) included a major in social behavior, human behavior, or health care or; (c) was supplemented by specialized experience as described above for GS-4. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of FAP requirements and procedures and basic methods and techniques of counseling.
2. Knowledge in developing an education curriculum with learning objectives and outcomes.
3. Skill in using word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a
variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
4. Skill in tactfully interviewing clients coming to the FAP office.
5. Ability to work well with others in a team setting; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NK-2 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-07.
