This is a Regular Full Time Position. Guaranteed 35 hours per week.


Physical Effort: The work involves standing and walking continuously on concrete floors and other hard surfaces. Workers continually handle pieces of laundry weighing up to 10 pounds and as much as 20 pounds. Frequently stooping and lifting bulk items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Duties

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Provides bulk laundry services for items such as sheets, towels, bath rugs, etc.

  • Operates commercial-type washers and dryers, ensuring proper loading.

  • Receives, counts, sorts, bundles, washes, dries, folds, and sorts linen, cleaning rags, and other laundry items.

  • Writes laundry receiving and issuance reports.

  • Inspects the quality, quantity, and types of items submitted for laundering.

  • Shakes out tangled, semi-dry items for flatwork ironing team or hand-feeding into automatic spreader.

  • Feeds items (e.g., sheets, towels) into flatwork ironer, holding them taut as the leading edge feeds into the pressure roll.

  • Uses ironer and automatic folder, along with a wrapping table, to finish linens and place them in carts for transport to the linen room.

  • Keeps track of received and issued items.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Ability to operate large commercial washers and dryers. Must be able to read, count and have the ability to sort laundry. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions Ability to physically perform the full range of assigned duties.
