Help
  • Use digital data to input, retrieve, create and maintain geospatial and tabular data to support a natural resources program.
  • Identify changes in data and communicate the difference to ensure correct and complete information exists in the Forest Service Activity Tracking System (FACTS) or related integrated database system.
  • Maintain data in databases to ensure consistency and integrity of geospatial data and products.
  • Apply knowledge of forestry practices and specific resource attributes and techniques to adapt and manipulate software and databases for providing users the information needed to accomplish work on the ground.
  • Provide maps and information from database systems to customers and program managers for natural resource/vegetation management project planning.
  • Create and update maps for contracts and contract modifications to accomplish forestry/natural resource work.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

GS-09: Applicants must have one year specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Oversaw the management, input, manipulation, retrieval, and reporting of data from a natural resource database system; and/or Assisted customers with natural resource geospatial products, maps, and data products; and/or Researched and problem solved to assist customers in natural resource databases; and/or Ensures resolution of errors and ensures accuracy of natural resource database data.

Physical Effort: Physical requirements of the position include the ability to lift, hold, and position light parts. Ability to climb, stoop, crawl in and around aircraft, and recognize color codes through normal color perception.

Work Environment: Work is done in an office setting or in aircraft maintenance facilities with considerable time spent in field conditions and in areas of wildfire where the employee is exposed to discomforts and hazards, such as smoke, adverse weather and risks resulting from supporting fire related activities.

Travel: Work requires frequent and extensive overnight travel away from home base to accomplish the surveillance, inspections, reviews and audits of Agency owned, operated, and contracted aircraft. Travel may be on short notice and over weekends and holidays.


This position is not eligible for telework.

This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy.
