Duties

Help

Assists with overall database systems administration (DB Systems Admin) support of the HQ Air Force Services Center (HQ AFSVC) Business Activity Network (BAN) environments. Provides communications and computer systems design, development, implementation, maintenance services, partner, and technical assistance to HQ AFSVC Staff and Air Force Services partners at MAJCOM and base-level activities.The primary purpose is to provide expert staff-level technical support and guidance for the installation, configuration, maintenance, integration, and support of Air Force Services server and desktop-based computer systems requirements. The primary role is database and web-based systems administration support for the sustainment, installation, and configuration of all environments for the multi-user enterprise Air Force Lodging System. The secondary role is database and web-based systems administration support for the sustainment, installation, and configuration of all environments for other enterprise-wide, internally developed, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: building and configuring new database and web-based systems and peripheral devices; managing and safeguarding access through effective user access management; installing software, software updates, and patches; troubleshooting and correcting system outages; performing benchmarking and performance monitoring; ensuring systems are secured, patched, and mitigated against identified risk through scan mitigation and risk analysis processes; and allocating and managing storage and establishing security configuration and privilege access required to enable users and vendors to support their respective environments. Provides database and web-based systems administration support as appropriate and within the customer support agreements with AFSVC Directorate of IT Management Systems (HQ AFSVC). In addition, this position is responsible for the implementation, security, and administration of multiple databases with high-volume and high-availability requirements. This position will be responsible for supporting database tables, indexes, views, constraints, triggers, stored procedures, and storage requirements. Manages database backups and recovery strategies. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Must have extensive experience with database and/or systems administration. Must possess experience with building, configuring and maintaining Microsoft SQL, IIS, operating systems and applications. Must have experience supporting Windows Servers and other mainstream operating systems and applications. Must possess senior-level experience with sustaining advanced multi-tier web-based SQL database server applications utilizing stored procedures and SQL-based reporting. Must have experience with structured systems analysis and configuration, and online interactive programming methodologies. Must have expert level experience with the following is required: Microsoft Windows Server, SQL, Visual Studio, SQL Reporting Services and IIS.

Desired Experience:
A bachelor's degree in an IT-related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

  1. Must have an understanding of database principles, data structures, stored procedures, group policy configuration management and patch management.
