Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees the daily operation of four Electronics Technicians, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develops performance standards, and evaluates work performance of subordinates
  • Gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters
  • Interviews candidates for positions int he unit and recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments
  • Performs lifecycle management of complex electronic and facility enterprise systems
  • Provides technical expertise related to electronic and facility enterprise systems via planning, design, implementation, testing, evaluation, project management, professional consulting and reporting, data mining, and full life cycle management
  • Performs duties of a broad scope and complexity including analyzing, diagnosing, and maintaining electronic and facility enterprise systems
  • Analyzes organizational needs to design, develop, and implement customized solutions utilizing software and/or hardware
  • Develops and implements a support strategy for customized systems or interfaces
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:

Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-10) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Electronics Technician, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: (1) Work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. (2) Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment. In addition, experience managing, leading or overseeing the work efforts of others and providing technical consultation. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates, AND hours worked per week. ~OR~

Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education that is directly related to the work of the Supervisory Electronics Technician position such as electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Combination: Equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond a master's degree) and specialized experience, as described above, which may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include courses directly related to the work of the Supervisory Electronics Technician position such as electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: Performance of duties can be physically demanding involving walking, sitting, prolonged periods pf standing, and periods of intense and prolonged concentration for precise nature. Handling of objects ranging from 20 to 50 pounds and greater is often common to service of heavier objects is necessary. Routinely required to climb and crawl on roof tops and under buildings to investigate equipment malfunctions and recommend alternate methods or other resolutions as applicable.

Supervisory Situational Judgment Test. Applicants will be required to complete a Supervisory Situational Judgment Test (SSJT) as part of the assessment process for this position. The SSJT evaluates judgment and decision-making skills that align with relevant competencies, organizational values, and best practices. Assessment results may be used as part of the evaluation, ranking and referral process. This is not a timed test, however, the assessment is expected to take approximately 45 minutes or less to complete. The assessment for this application does not include a cut score for a minimum level of required proficiency in these critical general competencies. However, you must answer each item in the assessment.
