Duties

Help
  • Prepare food items by wrapping, portioning, and assembling products for mobile food carts in accordance with established food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Stock food carts by inventorying items, replenishing supplies during service periods, and ensuring proper rotation and presentation of products.
  • Balance the cash drawer by counting money at the end of the meal period, separating the change fund, and completing required documentation.
  • Apply basic arithmetic and adhering to established cash-handling procedures.
  • Wash dishes, pots and/or pans manually or by use of mechanical equipment.
  • Clean kitchen equipment until free of debris.

  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform while on duty.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including serving and preparing food in a kitchen environment; cleaning cooking utensils to include mixing bowls pots and pans; and operating cash collection systems. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires the employee to lift items weighing up to 35 pounds; to bend, stoop, push, and pull heavy objects; and involves continuous standing, walking, and sitting. Must possess good eyesight and coordination for cash register and money-handling duties.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee performs work in noisy kitchen and dining room areas and is subject to injuries from equipment used. There is exposure to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks and exposure to extremes of temperature when bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
