Duties

Help
  • Produce and/or oversee production of quality contract drawings, specifications, design calculations, and design analysis for In-House Full Design or Design-Build projects.
  • Perform and/or oversee quality, cross-discipline, independent technical reviews of projects, studies, or reports for code, installation specific, and DoD criteria, and contract compliance.
  • Identify, distribute, and balance workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
  • Monitors the engineering aspects of all Mobile District designs to insure their completeness and technical adequacy.
  • Directs electrical engineers in Engineering Division on the approach to the more technically complex electrical engineering design problems.
  • Ensures compliance with Quality Control and Assurance processes and procedures involving the electrical engineering aspects of all Mobile District designs.
  • Acts as mentor and assists junior engineers in their career development.
  • Leads assigned team members and developing electrical engineers in general in assessing strengths and weaknesses and provides leadership in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made.
  • Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work.
  • Reports to the supervisor periodically on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress in mastering tasks and work processes, and individual and team training needs.
  • Estimate and report to the team on progress of meeting milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects and tasks, and ensure team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of team goals and objectives.

  • Percentage of time to be spent TDY is 25%, including OCONUS.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is Required.
  • Current registration as a Registered Communications Distributions Designer RCDD is a plus or capable of being registered within two years of employment is encouraged.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above you must also meet the following qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Provide oversight for electrical engineering projects; 2) Advise on problems that arise during the design process as they pertain to electrical systems/features; 3) Maintain leadership to team members on the development of electrical engineering design projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using specialized experience alone--no substitution of education for specialized experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
