Duties

Help
  • Reviews electrical plans and specifications prior to construction, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, established criteria, and facility master plans.
  • Participates in design review conferences with architects, engineers, and contractors, providing technical expertise and supporting the source selection process.
  • Approves electrical materials, equipment submittals, and shop drawings, while monitoring contractor progress, particularly regarding long-lead-time items.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve facility performance, reduce construction costs, or enhance project outcomes through suggested changes to design and specifications.
  • Conducts field investigations and compiles data to support proposed modifications, preparing associated cost estimates, sketches, and revised schedules.
  • Conducts studies and investigations to resolve complex electrical engineering problems arising during construction.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to determine needs and develop solutions, preparing comprehensive documentation (correspondence, specifications, procedures) to support contract modifications.
  • Compiles technical data for progress reports and assists in preparing payment estimates. Coordinates and verifies the accuracy of all electrical cost estimates processed through the Resident Engineer Office.
  • Exercises oversight of contractor quality control activities, verifying the adequacy of testing, material utilization, construction methods, safety procedures, and equipment installation.
  • Ensures full compliance with contract documents, applicable electrical codes, functional requirements, and safety regulations outlined in EM 385-1-1 and other relevant guidelines.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: Serve as the technical expert on complex electrical systems, resolving critical design conflicts when required; lead the review and approval of electrical submittals, ensuring compliance and maximizing energy efficiency for critical USACE missions.
