Duties

Help
  • Coordinate evaluation appointments; schedule follow-up appointments for National Guard and Reserve Component (RC) personnel for approved line of duty (LOO) related injuries.
  • Maintain and safe guard both hard copy and electronic medical information.
  • Assist in preparing appeals, rebuttals, and coordinate the assignment of Soldier's legal counsel.
  • Advise Soldier of the necessity of obtaining sufficient documentation (medical and non-medical) concerning the Soldier's ability to perform military duties and the severity of the Soldier's disease or injury.
  • May be required to take or coordinate photographs of injuries, wounds and scars; treating the Soldier with dignity and compassion to support the MEB documentation.
  • Inform the service member of his/her ability to appeal further to the Physical Disability Agency and to the Board of Corrections for Military Records if all previous appeals fail.
  • Track all assigned cases, analyze performance against metrics, analyze available data using various statistical analytic tools, measure means, trends, statistical deviations, construction of charts to convey ideas related to PDES processing events.
  • Identify problems and recommend changes to command policies and improvements to processes and services provided to service military members and their Families.

  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete the 6I-F4/340-F3 training and certification course within 180 days of their appointment and annually thereafter.

Basic Requirement for Health System Specialist (Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer):

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling personnel on benefits, advising personnel in all phases of a medical evaluation process, and using automation equipment to update health care database systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
