Duties

Help
  • Supervises a staff of 3-12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis. Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
  • Must be able to support the activity by applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities.
  • Works in executing recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage, including a variety of multi disciplinary events, i.e., social activities, tournaments and other major programs.
  • Assists with training new personnel. Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility. Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Must have knowledge of wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities.
  2. Must have basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding for supplies and equipment.
  3. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English).
  4. Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed.

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

Presidio of Monterey is the home of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, located in picturesque Monterey County on California's Central Coast, approximately 85 miles south of San Francisco and 50 miles from the Silicon Valley. With historic ties to the Spanish colonial era, the Presidio of Monterey as U.S. military installation dates to July 7, 1846 when Commodore Sloat landed his troops unopposed in Monterey during the Mexican-American War and first raised the U.S. flag in Alta California, claiming its territories for the United States. Monterey is the last Presidio in California to have an active military installation.
