Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:

  • Manage the Center's digitally scanned records ready to be wanded in Core via the Centralized Mail Portal, manage and analyze the flow of work on the Cores with the Support copy folder tracking database, overseeing and improving the support group procedures and guidance, and serve as the Center's primary point of contact for correspondence support concerns.
  • Conduct continuing analysis of central correspondence support operations to ensure that program goals and objectives are implemented and achieved.
  • Stay abreast of technical and program issues which may impact NPRC processes and operations by attending meetings, briefings, conferences, etc.
  • Direct, coordinate and oversee work through subordinate supervisors.
  • Coordinate with Core Manager in the development of opportunities for growth of team members such as rotational assignments, participation in Center wide projects or task forces, leadership assignments, etc.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A probationary or trial period may be required. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-09, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is:

  • Leading a small component of a team, program, or project; AND
  • Communicating with customers internally and externally to provide information and resolve issues; AND
  • Applying and researching rules, regulations, policies, and practices to gather facts, and draw conclusions and/or make recommendations.

OR

You may qualify with a Master's or equivalent degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work OR a LL.B or J.D, in a field related to this position; (attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit)

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. Credit will be given for partial experience so long as specialized experience and or required education or training meet or exceed the minimum level required for the position. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following requirements, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):

Time-in-Grade: For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
