The primary purpose of this position is for Paralegal support within the state/territory Staff Judge Advocate's Office providing ancillary legal research and analysis.

Open to members of the Colorado Air National Guard and those eligible to transfer into the COANG.

Advises the Staff Judge Advocate on all command issues on behalf of command staff, researching interpretation of federal/state statutes and regulations, and ensuring that legal guidance and support is furnished in a timely manner. Provides legal assistance on a non-interference basis to members of the ANG and their dependents as authorized by AFI 51-504, CNGBI, NGR, and other AF/JA guidance. Conducts legal research of federal and state/territory code, regulations, policies, procedures, case law, legal and administrative decisions and opinions, and summarizes findings to aid the SJA in case or project resolution. Provides research, analysis, guidance, and support to administer courts-martial, non-judicial punishment, administrative boards and other legal actions and administrative processes. Serves as the primary point of contact for ethical determinations. Screens requests for ethics opinions and gathers the applicable facts. Reviews changes in regulations on the Freedom of Information Act and updates and advises other legal personnel and field staff of changes. Performs other duties as assigned.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Membership in the Colorado Air National Guard or eligible to transfer.
Must hold the grade of E-5 thru E-7.

Eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that’s a 3 or higher.
Relocation Incentive is available for only current federal employees. Will need a current appraisal in good standing.
Recruitment Incentive is for employees newly appointed to a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.

1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.

Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions. Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of their employment.
11. Current COANG Technicians and AGRs hired for a position in which an MCR is required will remain in their current status unless/until the MCR is approved. In the event the MCR is not approved, they are accepting the position in their current status.
