Duties

Help
  • Receive incoming shipment of items from a variety of sources, assists in loading/unloading of deliveries as required.
  • Assist and conduct physical inventories, and helps to determine bases for overall shortages, misplaced items, or other discrepancies.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required and maintains storage area in a neat and clean condition.
  • Operate forklifts to move, load or unload, transfer, transport and stack or unstack merchandise, materials and supplies from one location to another.
  • Operate a motor vehicle to deliver supplies to troop medical clinics and or locations as required.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Annual physical examinations are required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds may be required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position requires the employee to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English and in a grammatically correct manner.
  • Incumbent will wear a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures. Safety gear is required. Safety shoes and glasses prescribed by OSHA.
  • Employee will be required to pass and maintain a forklift-certification and driving test within 180 days of being hired.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Material Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Materials Handler Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) duties receiving, storing, and issuing of medical and non-medical supplies, daily and weekly exchanging of medical supply carts and inventorying of all carts, receiving incoming shipments from a variety of sources, storing of materials within assigned storage areas according to established policies and procedures, operating a motor vehicle weighing up to and including 7000 pounds gross vehicle weight and operating a forklift capable of lifting 2000 to 6000 pounds - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended period of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds and/or maneuvers, pushes, or slides items for proper positioning. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment, or with assistance from other workers.
  • Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned or as directed by the supervisor. Work may require wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, rubber aprons. Type of protection will be determined by the work environment. Clothing and equipment include, but are not limited to the following: eye, respiratory and foot protection, protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, scrubs, etc.) Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials. Employee will be required to wear approved hearing protective devices and an audio metric test will be conducted, as necessary, when working near or around noise hazardous areas, machinery or equipment. Identification badges are required to ensure that staff is authorized access to assigned areas. Identifies and reports safety, environmental, and facility issues to their supervisor for processing. In addition, may also be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents, and to high noise levels in mechanized work areas. When working with hazardous materials, may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins or chemical fumes. Also at risk for the possibility of exposure due to infectious diseases from patient areas.
