MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Sets up food service counters, steam tables, dining room sets, and side service stands with hot and cold foods including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages.
  • Serves food cafeteria-style to diners in serving line or serves tables family-style by placing dishes of food on tables and refilling as necessary.
  • Prepares fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving by washing, peeling, scraping, and dicing.
  • Cuts and shreds lettuce, slices tomatoes, cuts lemons, prepares butter chips and opens cans.
  • Makes coffee, tea, ice water, and other beverages.
  • Portions out food by placing uniform amount in small serving dishes.
  • Grills fast food items such as hamburgers and uses deep fat fryer.
  • Cleans equipment in kitchen and dining area.
  • Washes dishes, pots, pans, coffee urn, glasses, and flatware.
  • Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.
  • Disposes of food waste and trash.
  • Moves heavy garbage cans and assists in unloading supply trucks and storing heavy supplies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Understanding of basic food handling techniques.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and perform routine manual tasks involving few steps.
  • Must use judgment in sequencing tasks and be able to concentrate on uniform individual portions and to avoid distraction when serving several people at a time.
  • Must have an understanding of personal hygiene standards and simple food handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and cash handling techniques.
  • Must have a working knowledge how to operate and clean the coffee machines.
  • Must be able to follow and relay instructions.
  • Exercise tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting both customers and employees.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
