Help

As a Sales Store Clerk, you will:

  • Maintain visitor attendance records.
  • Respond to oral and written inquiries concerning hours of operations, admission fees, merchandise, prices, and sales store operations, visitor questions, and furnishes information about the museum's exhibits, library operations, and historic site.
  • Deal with a variety of problems that arise day-to-day when no supervisor is available. Exercise independent judgement.
  • Plan, create, and implement display projects in the store area with minimum supervision.
  • Perform routine clerical duties in other areas of the library.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-04 grade level, You may qualify with one year of general experience. General experience for this position is defined as:

  • One full year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

Education:

  • You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.)

OR

Combination:

  • You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent.

This position is a Term appointment. A Term appointment is a non-status appointment to a position in the competitive service, made for a specified period of time. A term position does not confer eligibility for transfer to another agency. A term employee does not acquire competitive status or eligibility to be converted to a career conditional appointment, nor is the time served under a term appointment creditable toward career tenure.   • Library is open 7 days a week hours are: Monday-Saturday 9AM-5:30PM and Sunday 11:30AM-5:30PM.
  • Part time hours are 16-32 hours per week not to exceed 64 per pay period.

This announcement uses the Rule of Many, a numerical ranking process under which eligible applicants receive a numeric score based on the assessment process for the position. Only applicants who are eligible for veterans' preference receive 5- or 10-point veterans' preference points, which are added to passing scores, as applicable. Applicants are then listed on the certificate in score order, and preference-eligible applicants are listed ahead of non-preference eligibles with the same score. Preference eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10 percent or more are listed at the top of the certificate in rating order.

We will provide the selecting official with a sufficient number of names, when available, to consider at least three candidates per vacancy.
