***THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION***

This position is located at the JFHQ-State, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (DCSLOG) (G4/J4), Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO). The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to all State/Territory activities/organizations and perform a wide range of specialized methods/techniques for planning; analyzing and identifying problems in order to develop and implement resolutions to administrative and systemic programs throughout the organization.

Utilizes an extensive knowledge of logistics programs/operations and a clear understanding of automated systems to manage projects and programs for systems integration of CSS automation. Administers tactical local area network (LAN) clients, monitors ongoing operation of tactical network systems to ensure hardware and software functions, and meets operational standards.

Serves as the primary point of contact for Functional Administrators and users of the serviced database(s) in the absence of a Logistics Information Technology (LIT) Specialist (SASMO). Administers the day-to-day database operation and maintenance of the serviced database(s).

Analyzes requirements, manages, and coordinates hardware for automated logistics information systems and peripherals pertaining to the receipt, distribution, installation and life cycle management of devices that are directed to be managed at unit/State/Territory level. Installs, tests, and evaluates automated logistics information systems hardware.

Serves as the point of contact for the Sustainment Automation Support Management Office
(SASMO) Work Order Desk. Provides telephone coverage for users requesting assistance with hardware/software via a help desk, resolve problems if possible or refer problems to a technical specialist or contractor supplied support services; as well as prepares and accomplishes all work order and work order routing.

  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate, to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TOP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre ­employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM IORs (Alternative A) specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training receiving, maintaining, and issuing data storage media for computer operations. Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the above general and specialized experience, to include following competencies- knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs):
-Knowledge of DOD, DA, and NGB IT regulations, policy, and guidance to include IT security. Knowledge of logistics systems, principles, concepts and methodologies of program management with the ability to perform analytical assignments involving issues with program management and automated systems support.
-Knowledge of Army National Guard (ARNG) CSS related missions, objectives, terminology and management practices sufficient to recognize probable areas of interaction and overlap between proposed applications and existing systems.
-Knowledge of standard computer systems sufficient to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and skill to isolate causes.
-Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of a variety of hardware and operating systems; technical characteristics of computer equipment systems and software; and established equipment testing methods and terminology.
-Knowledge of a wide range of computer techniques, requirements, procedures and skill to provide user assistance as other systems are introduced.
-Knowledge of the internet, intranet, local and wide area networking, and system integration in order to install, troubleshoot and maintain software and access networks and internet-based software and systems. Skills to use innovative approaches to problem solving on new technology as it becomes part of the command's IT Architecture.
