Duties

Help

  1. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the media staff, ensuring the Marketing activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet the customer needs.
  2. Represents the organization with a variety of councils, boards, working groups, and panels.
  3. Exercises supervisory personnel management.
  4. Serves as a senior advisor for Media Marketing.
  5. Ensures media campaigns align with the overall agency strategic communication plans and are targeted to capitalize on trending topics relevant to demographics.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions.



SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience has been gained in assisting with the oversight/lead of a full spectrum of teams of media engagement, such as traditional press, social media, and emerging digital platforms; to include guiding media relations strategy, managing social media execution, and evaluating new and non-traditional media space opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of communication concepts, principles, policies, practices, methods, applications, techniques, standards, and trends applicable to researching, planning, developing, coordinating, leading, and evaluating broad Public Affairs, Marketing and visual information program requirements, strategies, and assets to perform the mission.
  2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, procedures, real-time marketing and news cycle principles, practices, techniques, and demonstratives ability to conduct rapid-response communication campaigns and activities in support of military recruitment programs.
  3. Knowledge of the methods, concepts, techniques to develop, research, analyze, and evaluate oral, written materials and visual information products to effectively prepare communication and marketing products on matters of importance while representing a wide variety of organizations and viewpoints.
  4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in real-time, both orally and in writing, clearly concisely, and with cultural accuracy to include conducting rapid briefs, crisis meetings, and stakeholder interviews with supervisors, employees, management, officials, and contractor personnel.
  6. Skill in developing and executing integrated media campaigns that include viral media, trending social media content, real-time community engagement, pop-up events, cultural partnerships, and rapid creative content development.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
