Duties

Help

Under the direction of the Maintenance Leader and Maintenance Manager, performs a variety of building maintenance tasks at a semi-journeyman level.

May provide advice or assistance to laborers working in assigned duties.

Performs tasks in the following general maintenance categories to include; carpentry, electrical, flooring, plumbing and painting, repairs or replacements and snow removal work assignments correctly and in a timely manner.

85% To include, however not limited to:Construction using wood or metal to build counters and cabinets using plywood, finished wood, laminate and other applicable materials. Alters, repairs and modifies facilities and structures, such as doors, finished paneling, and windows. Installs and repairs electrical wiring. Installs lighting fixtures, switches, and receptacles; tests electrical circuits for adequate amperage availability and corrects deficiencies. Knowledge of electrical generator use, set up and correct energizing of equipment as requested by work. Prepares and installs various types of flooring as well as repair using the proper equipment to include CVT , concrete, carpet, wood, etc. Repairs and replaces plumbing lines, fixtures, and clogged drains. Preparation, application and clean up for painting using the proper materials, supplies and equipment for the application. Snow removal for MWR designated facilities is required. Able to safety operate gas powered snow blowers, snow shovels and salt spreaders. May operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to, uniloaders with power auger, bucket, plow and back hoe attachments. Fork lifts, standard gas powered and rough terrain, capacities 6,000 pounds. May be trained to perform maintenance and repair on Athletic workout equipment. Installation of special event equipment, tents inflatables, and electrical, etc. throughout the year; such as the 4th of July celebration, Winter Fest and other events as they come up.

10% Takes periodic inventory of maintenance stock and equipment as required. Able to read and work off of basic and project renovation blue prints. Exact measurements required for tasks given; attention to specifications and codes resulting in the appearance requested for the final product. Determines the type of materials and tools needed in accomplishing work. Able to maintain and repair the maintenance tools and equipment when needed or required. Familiarized, interprets and incorporates safety requirements, environmental and OSHA rules and regulations.

  • Incumbent works both inside and outside. May be required at times to work in inclement weather. Exposed to the danger of cuts, bruises, burns and falls. May come in contact with materials that may be injurious to the eyes and skin.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:

Must have semi-journeyman knowledge of the general trades involved in maintenance work such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work with the basic skills associated therewith. Requires use of the basic manual and power tools; such as hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, tape measures, table saws, drills, snow removal equipment and other related tools that may apply to perform assigned duties.

Able to read written direction and understand verbal direction and ask questions for clarification if a task is not understandable from a written or verbal direction.

Experience in or willing to learn the operations of heavy equipment, including but not limited to, a forklift license with a minimum rating of 6,000 pounds.

Ability to care for, check fluids and determine the proper operation of a vehicle.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
