Duties

Help
  • Determine work sequences of repair projects.
  • Select and use sophisticated test equipment.
  • Operate combat vehicle systems for testing purposes.
  • Utilize drawings and computer printouts to diagnose problems.
  • Devise and recommend new and modified test and repair procedures.
  • Determine feasibility and cost effectiveness of making needed repairs.
  • Modify and/or integrate equipment and subsystems into existing systems.
  • Modify launching systems as needed per designated program requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government travel card (GTC).
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment/deployment physical and maintain annual requirements.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 90% of the time. (CONUS/OCONUS)
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary promotion may be made permanent or extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made permanent or extended at management discretion.
  • Temporary appointments may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic tasks which include: repairing and maintaining integrated electronic systems, Troubleshoot and repair electronic warfare or multiple integrated electronic systems composed of several systems which are closely interrelated and interdependent, work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to ensure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Efforts: Work requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. Employee is expected to climb onto equipment, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel and stand for extended periods of time. Works, as required, in cramped or awkward positions. Occasionally work in high places may be required.
  • Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Exposed to dirt, grease, dust, exhaust fumes, and high noise levels. Subject to the possibility of injury such as cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, and falls from equipment. Work may be performed outside in inclement weather.
