As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will:

  • Operate government vehicles to transport records, equipment, and materials between agency locations while ensuring the safe handling and security of all items, including classified and sensitive records.
  • Perform record operations support work related to reference requests, accessions, relocations, transshipments, refiles, interfiles, shelving and records disposition activities to support agency and customer service needs.
  • Load, unload, move and stage records and materials using proper material handling and safety procedures to prevent damage, loss, and misfiling of records.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, identify maintenance concerns, and ensure assigned vehicles and equipment are operated safely and maintained in serviceable condition.
  • Work independently, and as part of a team, to complete daily assignments, meet operational deadlines and support records management operation across multiple functional areas.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.
  • Must be able to lift containers of records weighing up to 50 pounds. Pull skids of records weighing up to 900 pounds through buildings and loads truck. Move pallets weighing approximately 2,000 pounds using un-motorized equipment.
  • You must possess and maintain a state issued Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), without airbrake restriction.
