This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at the Outdoor Recreation, within the Community Services Flight on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas.
This position is considered Flexible. The position is not guaranteed any hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. You may be required to work some nights, weekends and holidays. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.

Help

  • Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. Types of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Plans, coordinates, promotes, and conduct?? a variety of classes, trips, and clinics in support of outdoor adventure/aquatic operations and other recreation programs. Leads outdoor adventure/aquatic and other recreation programs; may require temporary duty/overnight travel.
  • Operates a variety of vehicles, to include, but not limited to, utility carts, 15-passenger van, and truck and trailer rig (non-commercial truck with up to 16-foot trailer).
  • Develops program plans that include cost analysis, manpower, logistical support, and publicity, coordination, and execution guidelines.
  • Performs and/or assists in maintenance of recreational facilities to include parks, pools, RV storage area, auto resale area, etc. Performs and/or assists in the maintenance of recreational equipment to include bicycles, mowers, boats, etc. Assists with equipment rental operations. Accepts reservations, inspects and tests equipment upon checkout and return; explains and/or demonstrates equipment operations as needed. Schedules recreation areas for customer use; inspects areas for safety, health, and cleanliness; takes appropriate action to correct discrepancies.
  • Tracks and collects fees for a variety of outdoor adventure/aquatic and other recreation programs and activities to include equipment rental, adventure programs, aquatic operations, and RV storage. Prepares daily deposits and cashier reports. Assists with financial operations to include budgeting, identifying capital requirements, and conducting recurring financial analysis. Conducts periodic fixed asset, equipment, and resale inventories.
  • May be required to assign, direct, and review the work of assigned employees and volunteers in the absence of the Outdoor Recreation Manager.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have practical knowledge and/or experience of recreation activities. Must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities and programs. Must be able to be certified as an instructor or guide in outdoor activities as the program requires (i.e., rafting, water safety instructor, etc.). Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Experience with a variety of office software is required. Must complete Standard First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of assignment. Must be able to obtain Food Handlers Certificate. Employee must have a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. Employee must be able to lift 40 pounds without assistance, and heavier weights up to 75 pounds with assistance. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. This is a drug-testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier-I background investigation.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
