Duties

Help
  • Plan and determine the current and future requirements for the various commodities assigned.
  • Review, verify and revise information regarding the stock status.
  • Contact various vendors for price quotes, item availability, and status of actions.
  • Conducts and manages line item purchases through the General Services Administration (GSA) for the assigned area.
  • Conduct spot audits to ensure proper protection and storage of sensitive, technical or hazardous materials.
  • Determine disposition of materials and coordinate with property management to dispose of surplus supplies, equipment and materials
  • Maintains document number logs, purchase order files, receiving document files, price quotes and pricing files and delivery schedule files for stock procurement in accordance with guidelines, and establishing vendor catalogs.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, GS-2010 at the GS-11 level, you must have:

A. Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related;

OR

B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: 1) providing integrated management and control of activities involving specialized supplies and equipment; 2) planning and determining current and future requirements for the major supply groups assigned; 3) maintaining inventory control records in an automated system; 4) investigating discrepancies between the physical inventory and the inventory database in order to review corresponding records and resolve problems; 5) developing documents and reports on inventory results;

OR

C. A combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
