About the position: This position will be assigned to the Westwind Inn (Lodging) at Travis Air Force Base, CA.

Physical Effort: Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs. and over 40 lbs. with assistance.

Eligible to use base facilities such as; Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center.Tuition Assistance after one year.

Duties

Help

  • Inspects and performs maintenance and minor repair on television sets, DVD/video players, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners, and other electrical equipment and components.
  • Makes minor electrical repairs by replacing fixtures, switches, sockets, stove burners, electrical cords, and bulbs and performs minor maintenance on furniture.
  • Performs minor plumbing duties to include unclogging drains, toilets, sinks, showers, etc.
  • Use hand and power tools such as drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tools, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, caulking items, pipe wrenches, rollers, putty knife, etc.
  • Paints indoor and outdoor surfaces to include walls, floors, doors, and door frames. Prepares surfaces to be painted by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sanding surfaces.
  • Maintains written records of maintenance and all inspections performed for local requirements.
  • Performs routine inspection and minor maintenance on lodging vehicles to include oil changes, battery checks, and condition of breaks, filling tanks with gasoline, checking fluid levels, hoses, and filters, changing fan belts, and replacing lights.
  • Drives vehicles to various locations both on and off base to transport supplies and equipment.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have responsible work experience where the applicant is able to apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities appropriated to the grade level of the position. The experience may have been gained in similar or closely related work of the position, for example, experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, etc. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing as well as with co-workers, supervisors, and lodging guests. Must be physically able to lift, bend, work in awkward positions both indoors and outdoors for long periods of time. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and over 40 pounds with assistance. Must possess a valid driver's license and provide a copy of driving record.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
