Duties

Help

Assists Managers in the economic and efficient operation of both Pudgy's and catering operations. Responsible for arrangement for catering activities (i.e., banquets, parties, receptions, luncheons, and other special activities) requiring food and beverage service. Obtains pertinent information from member host(s), such as number of guests expected, seating arrangements, decorations, and music and entertainment desired. Analyzes the requirements of the occasion and decides on suitable types of services to be provided; discusses menu and beverage items/prices to be charged. Draws up party contracts and obtains member's signature(s). responsible for making commitments as to arrangements and price to be paid for the services provided. Implements higher-level directives and assists in formulating procedures and programs to ensure high standard food and beverage programs. Provides catering service for functions held outside Pudgy's as authorized by policy, regulations, and guidelines. Transmits information to Chef or Head Cook and other personnel concerned with party activities; arranges for such detail as printing of menus, procurement of decorations and entertainment, and table set-ups; arranges for items such as furniture, china, silverware, candles, and glasses. Provides support for Squadron events. Inspects final arrangements for the party to ensure that all contractual arrangements are met insofar as the host-facility is concerned; greets host(ess); sets up receiving line if desired; and as required, observes the party in operation to ensure service provided is efficient, courteous, and correct from both etiquette and contractual terms. Oversees Accounts Payable; ensures payment arrangements are coordinated prior to the end of each reporting period. Directs Cashier Fund Handling, Bingo, Duty Manager Operations, Payroll, and Facility Management Operations. Manages real property resources and provides advice on renovations, improvements, and minor construction. Maintains work order and property maintenance logs in accordance with Department of Air Force (DAF) directives and performs follow-ups weekly. Maintains key inventory and control logs in accordance with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 32-5001. Maintains the party reservation book and party contracts. Programs and maintains Point of Sale (POS) systems with supporting data to include menus, price changes, and personnel data. Serves as the Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) for the facility; maintains all club vehicles, logs, reports milage and scheduled inspections and maintenance requirements on assigned vehicles. Serves as ADPE, Equipment Custodian, and Self Inspection monitor and maintains quarterly successful inspection with accurate records. Exercises the full range of supervisory functions to include employee selection, initiating personnel actions, preparing performance standards and evaluations, approving/disapproving leave requests, resolving complaints and initiating disciplinary actions when necessary. Assures patron satisfaction by resolving complaints and other customer problems. Establishes overall work schedules. Performs related duties as assigned. Position is a position of trust.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have progressively responsible experience related to the management aspects of food and beverage activities. Must have the ability to supervise, train, plan and organize social functions for large groups of people, and schedule subordinates or have experience which shows the potential to develop these qualities. Examples of such experience include but are not limited to work which involves planning activities, establishing administrative procedures and policies, funds accountability, overseeing food preparation or facility layout for group social functions; organizing activities which require coordination of numerous tasks involving cooperation from several sources of services or personnel, responsibility for an operation or management of an activity similar to the one in which the position is located and planning for and marketing products. Must have familiarity with formal protocols for high-ranking dignitaries, familiarity with skill identifying and resolving problems and must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to satisfactorily complete food handler's training. Ability to lift objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
