Duties

Help
  • Incumbent serves as a Senior Inspector on complicated issues concerning the construction of a major civil works projects, and administering construction contracts.
  • Coordinate the work with Contractors' personnel and representatives of the using service to assure timely and satisfactory accomplishment of all contracts.
  • Analyze problems and reviews and interprets the requirement of plans and specifications for Contractor representatives and other interested persons. Supervises the layout of work and inspection of all work in progress.
  • Incumbent assures that materials incorporated into the construction work are in compliance with plans and specifications and approved shop drawings, and that items requiring laboratory testing are tested before use on the project.
  • Exercise surveillance to assure the Contractor is conducting quality control operations to produce work in conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Confer with Contractor's representatives on matters pertaining to interpretation of plans and specifications.
  • Research problems and draft responses and/or coordinates review by office staff, A/E, Resident Office, or District elements, as required.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing quality assurance inspections on construction projects to ensure work and materials comply with contract plans/specifications; AND 2) Assisting in the administration of construction contracts by reviewing payment estimates and requests for contract modifications; AND 3) Monitoring contractor compliance with safety plans and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
