Duties included but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as the lead administrative support related to medical staff requirements for licensed independent providers.
  • Conducts analytical reviews, manages and tracks data, serves as an advisor to Medicine HCG physician leadership on key processes related to the credentialing and privileging process of VAMC.
  • Supports the implementation, maintenance, and update of Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) monitoring systems in support of all divisions of the Medicine HCG.
  • Provides support to the timely and accurate onboarding of Licensed Independent Practitioner staff including recruitment and retention activities.
  • Applies analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance of key program processes.
  • Participates in discussion, meetings, conferences and conference calls with management officials and employees to share information, investigate facts, present conclusions, recommendations, and alternatives, obtain concurrence, develop alternate courses of actions, and mutually resolve problems.
  • Coordinates Chief's scheduling and timeline of projects and meetings and track workload and projects.
  • Formulates recommendations for modifying, revising, or implementing procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of administration operations.
  • Responsible for working collaboratively with Medicine HCG leadership, healthcare providers, the Credentialing & Privileging (C&P) administrative specialists, and other administrative teams in managing the FPPE and the OPPE for the C&P Program.
  • Analyzes clinical evaluation plans to ensure they meet standards and are thorough and appropriate to measure and document the clinical competence of the Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP).
  • Assures application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account (VetPro or other internal databases and spreadsheets) meet technical requirements.
  • Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources; establishes protocols for incoming data; organizes computerized data sets; and retrieves computerized data.
  • Gathers, analyzes, documents and tracks program data from beginning to end ensuring C&P compliance.
  • Applies technical skills to extract and analyze large datasets in a variety of formats (i.e., Access, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Manages and organizes information from various VA repositor to present data in reports and presentations to supervisors and managers.
  • Applies analytical skills in understanding the data, noting key issues, and making data driven decisions that impact key areas of the C&P Program within Medicine HCG.
  • Utilizes quantitative and qualitative skills to conduct healthcare provider industry analysis studies.
  • Assesses internal and external communication to identify substantive issues in meeting program requirements.
  • Makes adaptations or recommendations to larger internal processes and or policy changes to supervisors, establishes program work priorities to meet compliance.
  • Understands and uses VISTA and HCG databases to provide reports.
  • Implements tracking and monitoring systems for actions as indicated by the Credentials Committee.
  • Assists in supporting MSO in providing insights and reports on state licensing board reporting requirements and state licensing board reporting correspondences.
  • Provide oversight of recruitment and retention actions related to LIPs within the Medicine HCG including board actions, market pay reviews, biannual reviews, recruitment and retention incentives, pay for performance and performance appraisals.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of local VAMC policies in accordance with The TJC standards, and VHA Handbooks and policies.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/11/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

Specialized Experience:
In addition to meeting the time in grade, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

  1. Experience working in a healthcare setting performing administrative program analysis and support related to medical staff credentialing and privileging (C&P) processes.
  2. Experience utilizing VA systems such as VetPro, VISTA, CPRS, and database tools such as Microsoft Access, Excel, and other reporting platforms.
  3. Experience applying analytical and evaluative methods to assess program effectiveness and compliance with VHA Credentialing & Privileging directives, Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and Federal and State regulations.
  4. Experience independently managing the end-to-end onboarding process for new employees, registry personnel, and contract staff,
  5. Expertise in troubleshooting pay issues, and maintaining organizational chart accuracy.
  6. Experience independently performing management and program analysis functions in a VA inpatient medicine healthcare setting.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for a Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) program. OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have :
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree

  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

  • LL.B. or J.D., if related
